Fast food chain KFC has announced expansion plans which will see the company create up to 9,000 new jobs in the UK.
Over the next three to five years, up to 300 new outlets will be built as part of the £150 million scheme.
The new restaurants will employ between 25 and 40 people each with most beginning on the minimum wage of £5.73. However, there will be management teams on a higher salary in every outlet.
Martin Shuker, chief executive of KFC, said: "The picture of KFC as only a takeaway is a dated one. If you were to go to Manchester, Birmingham, Scotland or Wales the predominant restaurant we have is actually a drive-through."
Famous for its cheap prices and bargain buckets of fried chicken, KFC has claimed that its like-for-like sales are up by 14 per cent so far this year.
Earlier this month, broadcast and telecoms firm BSkyB announced that it plans to create 1,000 new jobs as part of expansion plans over the next 12 months.
