The number of jobs created in September was up by 20 per cent, according to the latest set of figures.
Over the UK's 21 key industries 40,833 jobs cropped up over the month which is up by a fifth compared to the same period last year, the Mandis and Adecco Job Creation Index has found.
Director of Mandis Philip Arnold commented that the results are somewhat surprising after the effects of the sub-prime crisis in the US
"The brunt of the credit crunch impact has been borne by the property and the finance and banking sectors, however opportunities have also been created," he remarked.
Health and social care had a strong month along with transport and distribution storage positions as well as leisure and recreation.
Industrial and engineering vacancies had a poor month, as did the textiles industry in terms of job creation.
Yesterday, it was found by The Institution of Engineering and Technology that youngsters aged 14 to 15-years old are uninterested in having a career in engineering or technology.
