Employment in the energy sector has received a boost as more than 100 new jobs have been created at a refinery in Lincolnshire.
This news marks the end of a staff walkout at the Lindsey Oil Refinery over the use of foreign workers, as well as halting strikes which have been spreading across the sector, Personnel Today reports.
An agreement, which was negotiated by conciliation service Acas, has now been reached between the workers' union GMB and management of the plant
It will see 102 jobs for British workers created alongside the 198 positions filled by Italian and Portugese migrants.
Phil Whitehurst, a GMB official, commented that this could mark the beginning of a fight for jobs for UK citizens.
"We have started it, but I think it's going to carry on elsewhere," he said.
At the end of last year, it was announced that steel construction firm Corus may be cutting some wages in an attempt to save jobs at the company.
