Switching between jobs rather than staying loyal to one company has often been seen as a habit of the young, but it is now something older workings are beginning to do, new research has indicated.
A survey of employees aged 41 to 55-years-old conducted by linkme.com.au has discovered that 82 per cent are searching for new employment, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Campbell Sallabank, Linkme chief executive, noted that the trend is a change from the norm.
He told the news source: "Gen Y has long been recognised for their job-hopping ways and little concern for employers' interests as they ruthlessly climb to the top of the corporate ladder.
"Now more mature workers appear to be adopting the me-too attitude as they join the bandwagon of career success instead of job loyalty."
The poll revealed that personal reasons and the need for a challenge are the main reasons why older workers are looking for a new job.
