Jobseekers in the IT industry are looking for a new role in the sector because they want to work on new and exciting projects, according to a new study.
Conducted by Conchango, the survey discovered that 34 per cent of IT job hunter put new projects as the top reason to move on to a new company.
This was followed by a desire to develop one's career progression (31 per cent), Online Recruitment reports.
In fact, only six per cent of workers in the IT sector are looking for a new job based on salary.
Michelle Flynn, internal recruitment manager at Conchango, discussed the ways that employers can engage with job candidates.
"Making use of new technology such as blogging allows you to talk directly to potential recruits, discussing particular vacancies and offering an inside perspective on the company," she remarked.
The reputation of an employer was also an important factor when job hunting, the poll found.
Croner, the pay and benefits specialist, revealed last week that many employers are offering benefit packages that aren't suited to their employees.
