IT specialist could be missing out on earning a hefty paycheque each month by not taking some more qualifications in the subject, one expert has indicated.
According to Rob Chapman, chief executive officer of Firebrand Training, basic IT certificates could help workers boost their chances of attaining highly-paid positions in the industry.
He told the British Computer Society that a Firebrand study has revealed that while an IT graduate can expect an average starting salary of £22,000, a project management qualification could take these earnings to £48,000.
"At the very least, graduates can expect to increase their salary by a third and in some cases more than double it according to the certifications they complete," he stated.
He added that the skills shortage in the industry "provides a golden opportunity for graduates".
Yesterday, AllTheTopBananas.com discovered that the average advertised salary for the UK excluding London is £28,407.
