The number of employment opportunities in the IT sector took a tumble in the capital, it has been suggested.
According to Contractor UK, demand for IT workers in London has slowed over the past year.
Commenting on March's Report on Jobs from KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, Alan Nolan, director at KPMG, stated that it is not just the finance sector that is weakening.
"The banking crisis is clearly taking its toll as the financial sector as well as IT and computing are among the sectors where demand for both permanent and temporary staff is weakest," he said.
Furthermore, Monster's latest employment index showed an eight per cent slip in demand for IT specialists.
Hugo Sellert, head of economic research at Monster, over the course of the past year "London was the only region which is showing fewer IT opportunities".
In fact, the legal sector was the only industry to record a rise in online job demand last month, the Monster Employment Index revealed.
