A large number of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the IT sector are confident about hiring more staff during 2008 despite economic problems, new research has revealed.
According to a poll by The Credit Show organised by Credit Today, 37 per cent of SMEs are expecting to take on new staff this year and 80 per cent said they were confident about the future of their firm, Online Recruitment reports.
Publisher of Credit Today Kamala Panday stated that businesses are being more strategic in the current climate.
"In general, the overall picture is one of optimism and it's great to hear of the bullish mood that SMEs are in today, especially as they are such a vital part of the UK economy," she said.
Yesterday, Contractor UK reported that demand for IT jobs in London has fallen over the past 12 months.
