A new report has revealed that compared with other sectors, people working within the ICT industry are often dissatisfied with their jobs.
Research conducted by Professor Michael Rose of the University of Bath on behalf of the Economic & Social Research Council found that while corporate managers and senior officials were the happiest in their jobs, ICT professionals were ranked 66th in the list.
According to Professor Rose, the most important factor that determines how satisfied someone is in their work is the skill of "creating a sense of involvement" within an organisation.
"ICT professionals emerge from the survey less satisfied with involvement, sense of achievement, job security and training provided," he remarked.
Although improving job satisfaction is often "complex," Professor Rose said that it nevertheless could be done.
Employment law consultancy Peninsula recently reported that 82 per cent of people surveyed by the firm said that they had been stressed at some point in their working career.
