Though the human resources (HR) profession has traditionally been seen as female-dominated, those working in the sector require 'tough' skills to fulfill the role, an expert has advised.
Its previous tag as a female-orientated position is being proved wrong as more and more men opt for the role, according to Karen Sadler, a diversity expert with learning solutions company Academme.
She said: "The notion that HR is a fluffy job is outdated and more people recognise there is a harder side to the profession."
Ms Sadler also commented that "negotiation, conflict resolution and data management" are all essential qualities of a HR employee.
Competition for the role could intensify between those already working in HR, graduates specialising in the subject and those moving from other jobs into the sector, hrzone.co.uk said.
Women have also been in the headlines in the world of entrepreneurship as figures show a significant rise in the amount of females starting up their own businesses over the last few years.
