Working from home has been praised as a good idea by telecoms giant BT.
The company has noted that an improved work-life balance can be the main reason some people opt to work from the comfort of their own abode.
Mick Hegarty from BT Business noted: "We found that that 56 per cent of people who did it started off to get a better work-life balance."
In fact, work-life balance "seems to be the number one factor for people who are ambitious", Mr Hegarty remarked.
"There are a whole range of benefits" offered to workers through the scheme, he added.
It is also a good idea for those who want "to have more control over their lives and be their own boss", Mr Hegarty commented.
Around half of the two million home-based businesses in the UK have not managed to create the work-life balance they desired, research by Enterprise Nation discovered recently.
