The difference in jobs rate in local areas is greater than discrepancies between UK regions, new figures have revealed.
It was discovered by the National Office for Statistics (ONS), that the greatest variation in the employment rate exists in London.
Tower Hamlets has the lowest working age employment rate of 53.2 per cent, while the City of London was found to have 100 per cent rate of employment.
Outside of the City, Bromley had the next highest rate of working age employment rate of 79 per cent.
The authority boasting the highest employment rate outside of the capital, according to the ONS, is Hart in Hampshire with 88.4 per cent of people of a working age in jobs.
Yesterday, the Monster Employment Index discovered that there has been a fall in the amount of finance, banking, insurance and legal jobs available.
Managing director of Monster UK and Ireland Julian Acquari stated that the dip could mostly be a seasonal trend.
