Graduates are savvy about the concept of flexible working, one expert has claimed.
More graduates are understanding the importance of a good work-life balance, Victoria Winkler, an advisor for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), has said.
Such issues are now firmly on the agenda of job-seeking graduates, she warned employers.
"That's something that they're increasingly looking at and seeing how that works for them," she remarked.
Ms Winkler added: "Graduates are very aware of the different opportunities that are available."
Smaller businesses should focus on offering graduates flexible working options to entice them away from the draw of big firms, she commented.
It was recently suggested by the CIPD that 2008 will be the worst year for jobs in a decade.
John Philpott, author of the forecast, said it will certainly be the worst employment market since Labour came to power.
