The credit crunch has provoked graduates to flock to recruitment agencies in order to find jobs outside of the private sector, it has been claimed.
Director of recruitment firm People Unlimited Natasha Waas said that as the slow economy has forced many private-sector firms to halt their employee intake and make redundancies, many graduates are hoping to find work in the charity sector.
However, Ms Waas advised that this may not be as easy as it may seem, the Guardian reported.
"Managing expectations of graduates is important. Lots of people still think: Just because I've been a graduate or because I've worked in the commercial sector, the charity sector should be pleased to have me."
She furthered that a lot of time has been dedicated to consultancy work in order to determine what it is graduates are looking for.
Over the summer several major UK organisations have reduced the number of graduate job openings they offer due to the credit crunch, namely the NHS, Trinity Mirror and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
