Government launches new employee awareness campaign
Peter Mandelson is set to launch a new campaign today which he hopes will make more employees in the UK aware of their rights.
The business secretary claims that workers should have an accurate knowledge about the minimum wage and what to do if they have been underpaid.
Parliament has also passed tougher penalties for those employers who exploit their staff by underpaying them.
Speaking about last month's increase in the minimum wage, he said: "More than one million workers benefited from its increase last month and it's important that we make sure everyone knows what they're entitled to, that's what this campaign is all about."
A roadshow called It's Your Call will be launched in Downing Street before touring the country, taking in 28 towns and cities on the way.
The minimum wage in Britain was increased from £5.52 to £5.73 at the beginning of September.
