Jobseekers may be pleased to hear about a government initiative which will see around 10,000 new apprenticeships created.
According to Recruiter, the National Apprenticeship Service - announced by skills secretary John Denham and schools secretary Ed Balls - will boost the number of apprenticeships in the construction industry.
Similarly, retailers such as Sainsbury's, Phones 4u, Tesco and Superdrug have all announced that they will be increasing the number of apprentices they take on.
Mr Denham said that the private sector "must ensure that every pound invested by taxpayers not only helps deliver new infrastructure projects but will also help provide the skilled workers needed in the future and enable more people to build a strong career".
Last week, Tesco announced that it will be using online recruitment to hire around 300 external workers and make 400 internal moves over the next year.
