Almost two-thirds of all internet searches worldwide are made via Google, a report has shown.
Analyst comScore says that of the 61 billion searches conducted across the globe in August, more than 37 billion were made using Google-powered search engines.
Google's closest rival, Yahoo!, ranked second with 8.5 billion searchers, with Microsoft's network of search engines in fourth place; sandwiched by Chinese language site Baidu and South Korea's Naver.
"Seeing Asian search engines like China's Baidu.com and Korea's NHN ranked alongside Google and Yahoo! underscores the fact that search has become a truly global phenomenon," commented Bob Ivins, executive vice president of international markets at comScore.
"The continued development of search in international markets will undoubtedly present compelling opportunities for savvy marketers on a global scale."
According to comScore, which says its survey has provided the "first panoramic worldwide view of online search activity", 750 million people used internet search engineers in August.
Searches were most prevalent in Asia-Pacific, followed by Europe, North America, Latin America and the Middle East-Africa region.
"With the tremendous volume of search activity occurring around the world, search continues to present an abundance of marketing opportunities to companies on both a global and local scale," added Mr Ivins.
