The FTSE 100 put aside initial morning losses to rise over one per cent this morning.
At 9:49 BST, the index stood at 5,409.00 up one per cent keeping it in touch with last week's performance.
Thomson Reuters was up 3.10 per cent, Tullow Oil rose 3.06 per cent and brewer SABMiller climbed 2.79 per cent.
Thomas Cook was up 2.76 per cent and builders merchant Wolseley gained 2.72 per cent.
Meanwhile, greatest losses were seen for the miners.
Eurasian fell 1.89 per cent, Kazakhmys dropped 1.69 per cent, Ferrexpo slipped 1.63 per cent and Vedanta Resources was down 1.10 per cent.
Lloyds TSB fell 1.17 per cent heralding a week of banking results.
Sterling was down against the dollar and the year, leaving £1 worth $1.9688 and 1.26305, making 1 worth £0.79205.
