Millions of parents with older children are now eligible to request the right for flexible working in the UK.
Around 4.5 million people with children up to the age of 16 can now ask for flexible working arrangements, rather than just those with children up to six years old.
This takes the total number of eligible parents up to ten million.
The government has said that it wants to help people strike a better balance between their work and home lives.
Harriet Harman, minister for women and equality, said: "We have already built a strong foundation of support for families through the right for parents with children under six to request flexible work.
"But, as any parent knows, older children going through the teenage years need just as much support and guidance."
Meanwhile, Work Wise UK has previously claimed that technology is making it easier for remote and flexible working to be adopted by firms.
