First Choice confirms package holiday sale talks
Tour operator First Choice has today confirmed that talks have begun with more than one suitor over the potential sale of its package holiday operations.

The firm said that these discussions were part of a wider review over how to "continue to maximise the potential" of its holiday operating arm.

A statement this morning said the board was "considering a range of alternatives in this market and discussions with a number of parties are at a preliminary stage".

"However, there can be no certainty that any transaction will be forthcoming," the statement added.

Reports over the weekend claimed that First Choice was looking to focus its energies upon more specialist holiday deals.

The Sunday Times said that British-based MyTravel had thrown its hat into the ring as a potential buyer, as had German-owned Thomas Cook.
