Financial experts are finding it hard to relax and are working longer hours, a new survey indicates.
According to a poll by Robert Half, financiers cannot relax on holiday as 40 per cent admitted to taking a BlackBerry or laptop away with them and 14 per cent said that relaxing was impossible without keeping in touch with the office.
The firm also suggests that finance professionals are working harder, with 52 per cent of respondents admitting they have been working longer hours over the past two years.
"As working hours increase, financial professionals around the globe find they are increasingly responding to emails and taking phone calls during the evening," the company stated.
Furthermore, some industries must work around the clock to fit in with foreign markets, the firm added.
These figures follow reports last week that the credit crunch could negatively affect the finance sector over the next few months.
The Confederation of British Industry and PricewaterhouseCoopers discovered that the industry was bracing itself for a period of tough trading.
