Female accountants have 'same opportunities' as men

The majority of females in the accountancy profession feel they have the same opportunities as men, a new survey has revealed.
Conducted by Elements, the poll of over 100 female accountants found 68 per cent rated their career chances as equal to those of their male counterparts.
Furthermore, the study found that accountancy firms are recognising the need to retain talent.
"Female accountancy students make up half of new entrants into the accountancy profession - that has to spell good news for the future," a respondent to the survey said.
A good work/life balance is now important to both men and women, the respondents stated, although one described the nature of the profession as highly competitive.
"This is a very well rewarded and consequently a very competitive profession. If you're not prepared to make sacrifices, you can't expect to reap the benefits."
Top firm KPMG recently pledged its commitment to developing talented female accountants.
