Expert: Internet is a great way for companies to recruit
Online recruitment could be one of the best ways for companies to find potential employees, according to one expert.

Speaking to Personnel Today, Marco Bertozzi, director of media and digital at recruiters TMP Worldwide, said job seekers spend around 35 per cent of their media time surfing the internet.

Therefore this may be the perfect opportunity for businesses to attract applicants to positions they have available.

Mr Bertozzi encourages companies to place adverts on recruitment websites as well as having a well-maintained and user-friendly site so visitors are not discouraged by broken links or poor navigation.

He said: "How a company approaches candidates online influences how it will be perceived and the internet helps position organisations as forward thinking and innovative."

ClickAJob Marketing Manager Anders Jensen goes even further.
"A lot of companies tend to think of the 'Internet' as just one issue," he says.

"In reality, it's a great way to target appeals to specific user groups beyond simply 'customers'."

"As most big companies know, new hires and existing staff respond better to exclusive employee-dedicated sites than to big and heavily-branded sales-driven ones," he says.

"It's precisely for this reason that we've developed our individual and specifically employee-centric Company Profiles for companies to attract new staff through ClickAJob."

He continues, "There's another dimension too –by actually using the Internet, job-seekers demonstrate that they are computer-savvy and up-to-date, a vital requirement for most jobs these days."

Last month, onrec.com reported on plans by Oxfordshire county council to increase its use of online recruitment and improve services for job seekers.
