Workers who do regular exercise tend to work harder and have better concentration at work, one expert has suggested.
They are also less likely to have days off due to sickness, meaning it may be of advantage to employers to encourage exercise in the workplace, System Concepts believes.
Workers can also be more productive if they spend slightly less time sitting at their desk as their concentration can fade.
Tom Stewart, joint managing director of System Concepts, said: "The problem is motivating yourself to do it and I think companies can encourage this so that sitting at your desk isn't seen as a career limiting move."
Recent research by Bristol University found that exercising during the day helped to re-energise many workers.
Their concentration was also improved and they felt calmer and better able to deal with problems that arose.
