Employment prospects for job seekers in Scotland are better than for jobseekers in other areas of the UK, a new report has revealed.
The Bank of Scotland's latest labour market barometer found that there was a "firm demand" from Scottish employers looking to recruit new staff.
Areas of particular demand included Engineering and Construction, which saw the highest demand for permanent staff, while the IT and Computing sector saw the highest demand for temporary staff.
The report scored Scotland's employment climate at 62.0 on the barometer, while the UK as a whole scored only 59.8.
Group economist at the Bank of Scotland, Tim Crawford said: "Firms are looking to recruit more permanent and temporary staff in Scotland, which is encouraging news for Scottish job seekers.
"However, some posts are now taking longer to fill and salaries are rising as companies compete to attract qualified staff."
Around 40 per cent of Scottish recruitment consultancies said that they had seen a decline in their number of candidates in August.
