Employers to 'receive help driving down legal bills'
14-08-2008
A new campaign will help employers cut out unnecessary legal costs by assisting them in calculating their own figures, the government has announced.
The Employing People campaign is one of the strategies the government will use in its aim to reduce the costs heaped on businesses by £365 million a year by May 2010.
Employees will be guided to a website with the facilities to calculate the costs of compulsory legal obligations, such as maternity and retirement pay.
Pat McFadden, employment relations minister, commented: "Complying with legislation can be complex at times, but employment law is often easier than business owners think."
Mr McFadden also said that employers will be able to access "easy-to-use, fully compliant documents that take only a few minutes to complete".
In May, the Federation of Small Businesses announced that entrepreneurs and independent businesses appear to be 'resilient' and are successfully surviving the credit crunch.
