Employers are struggling to follow employment guidelines, one expert has said.
According to Philip Moody from the Forum of Private Business (FPB), employment tribunal claims have increased over recent months.
"Many business owners struggle to balance running their business with the correct implementation of employment rules and regulations," Mr Moody, a senior member services representative at the FPB, commented.
His comments follow the release of new Employment Guide by the FPB, which attempts to help directors avoid legal pitfalls in employment.
The Employment Tribunal Service recently published figures detailing a 15 per cent rise in the number of tribunals from 2006 to 2007.
One employer, managing director of Health Leads UK, John Doyle, added: "The amount of employment legislation now is really onerous."
In other news today, law firm DWF has warned directors that they could face dismissal if new guidelines encouraging the use of the Company Directors Disqualification Act are implemented over health and safety breaches.
