Employers should ensure that they are managing absence throughout the year and holding back-to-work interviews with workers, it has been claimed.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), this can help managers to look at any underlying problems which may be occurring, as well as letting employees know they have been missed.
Ben Willmott, senior public policy advisor at the CIPD, said: "It needs to be recognised that there are certain times of the year when there are more colds and more flu about."
Therefore it is likely that there will be more people off during these periods and employers need to be aware of such instances.
FirstCare advises bosses to ensure their workers get time away from their desks at lunch as this helps them to relax, get away from work and have a more positive outlook.
