Employees need to be 'right the first time'
It is important that managers employ new workers who are 'right the first time' during the credit crunch, according to one company.

Skillsarena suggests that because of the economic downturn there are now many more candidates applying for jobs, Online Recruitment reports.

As a result, managers need to remain focused on the skills and qualifications they need workers to have for the role.

One way in which they can do this is to test those applying for positions to ensure that they have the right abilities and money is not being wasted on recruitment if they turn out to be unsuitable.

Jason Pierce, managing director of Skillsarena, said: "It is the effectiveness of its staff and the efficiency of the business that will enable the crunch to be ridden out."

Speaking to Online Recruitment, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development said that to survive the recession, firms must fight in the "war on talent".
