As many as 3,000 jobs could be created in the coming years at a proposed distribution and warehouse operation, it has emerged.
Plans for the former Peugeot site at Ryton, Rugby, would also see a manufacturing and warehouse hub being constructed, the Rugby Advertiser notes.
It is thought that the 3,000 positions would be available by 2010 following permission being granted by Rugby borough council, with employment being created in offices, driving or manufacturing jobs.
Trenport Investment is the company proposing the jobs boost, with Peugeot Partnership chairman Dr Brian Woods-Scawen commending the decision to help the local economy.
"From the outset, all members of the partnership wanted to see industry and commerce continuing at Ryton, which we regard as a key commercial site," he told the publication.
Peugeot sold the 140-acre site in March, following the loss of 2,150 jobs when the plant was closed.
