Confidence 'remains steady' among IT employment firms

Optimism for the job prospects in the IT industry remains high, according to a new poll of recruitment firms working in the sector.
Confidence in the IT industry is currently ranked at six out of ten by recruiters, marking a fall from last year's figure of seven out of ten.
Nevertheless, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation believes that the rating represents stability in the outlook for the industry.
Commenting on the survey, Jeff Brooks, chair of the IT and Comms Sector Group meeting, at which the results were revealed, said: "Specialist IT job roles are still vital to the economy."
He added that job prospects in IT are similar to that in healthcare, where a demand for new recruits rarely wanes.
Nevertheless, another report suggests edgy IT workers could be pushed to extreme measures when seeking security over their jobs.
A Cyber-Ark survey found that nearly half of IT employees would misuse security access in order to see if they were on a list of potential redundancies.
