Kesa Electricals has reported great sales over the Christmas period, boosted by its UK based Comet stores.
Reporting its trading update for November 1st 2006 to January 8th 2007, the European electrical retailer reported a total turnover increase for the group of 8.1 per cent, with Comet reporting a 7.7 per cent increase in revenue and 7.5 per cent increase in like-for-like sales at its 250 stores.
Darty and BUT, the group's electrical stores on the Europe mainland, reported a 5.1 per cent and 5.6 per cent increase in revenue respectively. Kesa Electricals says the good sales were due to a high demand for new technologies, with flat screen televisions and multimedia products pushing up sales.
Chief executive Jean-Noel Labroue said: "Sales remained robust over our peak pre and post Christmas trading period and all our businesses delivered good revenue performances.
"Sales were again led by strong demand for new technologies, particularly flat screen televisions and laptops, and sales of white goods continued to show positive growth. Margin mix during the period followed the trends observed throughout the year."
