The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has launched a new campaign to encourage more female graduates to consider a career in the construction industry.
In partnership with the Construction Youth Trust, Anglia Ruskin University, the University of Central Lancashire and the College of Estate Management, the CIOB aims to promote management roles, offer training and recruit graduate trainees.
Chris Hughes, chair of the graduate diploma programme management committee at the CIOB, said that removing barriers to women who have the potential to embark upon successful careers is a key priority for the industry.
"This project will make a significant contribution to that ambition," he remarked.
The organisation will be funded by the ConstructionSkills Women into Work project and aims to support 50 graduates by March 31st 2008.
According to a report by the Construction Products Association, the industry is expected to see sustained growth over the next few years as the UK's economy continues to perform well.
