Job seekers looking to take advantage of discrimination laws during the credit crunch could submit two CVs with differing details in order to catch firms out, it has been warned.
Jane Liddington, an employment judge, said that candidates could submit two CVs to a firm, leaving their ethnic minority out of one in order to bring discrimination claims against businesses.
Speaking to Personnel Today, Ms Liddington said: "With less jobs available but more people looking and being more aware of their rights, it's a combination for a perfect storm."
Advice on how to avoid this possibility has been offered by law firm Davies Arnold Cooper.
Insisting job seekers use application forms instead of CVs, posting clear closing dates on advertised positions and keeping track of why each applicant was rejected can help employers avoid these problems, the company advised.
Earlier this month, figures from services provider KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation found that permanent job vacancies had fell by their fastest since 2001.
