Phone, mobile and broadband distributor Carphone Warehouse has announced that group revenues for its third quarter were up by over 30 per cent.
Showing strong sales throughout both the third quarter and the Christmas period, the group increased retail sales by 19.8 per cent with a 7.3 per cent like-for-like sales growth, as compared to the same sales period last year.
Throughout the period the Carphone Warehouse opened 149 new stores, taking its total distribution network to 2,070 stores.
Chief executive officer Charles Dunson said: "We have had another very good Christmas period. Delivering profitable like-for-like growth after last year's very strong performance is a great achievement, reflecting all our people's efforts and driving market share gains through the strength of our customer proposition."
Mr Dunson said that a recent deal with AOL has made Carphone Warehouse a "clear number three player" in the UK's broadband market. The group currently holds 2.2 million subscriptions for the provision of residential broadband internet services.
"Overall we anticipate a full-year result in line with current market expectations," he said.
