Gordon Brown will unveil the Budget on March 21st 2007, the Treasury has confirmed.
The chancellor will make his speech to the House of Commons at 12:30 GMT.
It will be the 11th Budget of Mr Brown's career.
In 2004, he became the UK's longest continuously serving chancellor of the exchequer since the 1820s, overtaking David Lloyd George.
The Budget could also be the chancellor's last before he assumes the mantle of prime minister, with Mr Brown widely expected to succeed Tony Blair when he steps down later this year.
However, the chancellor's route to Number Ten will not be as smooth as it might have been given the absence of challengers to date.
Former environment secretary Michael Meacher announced his plans to challenge for the leadership today.
