Many British workers will spend time on Christmas Day checking their work emails instead of opening presents, results of a new survey have shown.
Research conducted by the Crowne Plaza hotel group found that two-thirds of people said they would check emails on their PDAs or BlackBerries before unwrapping their gifts, Management Today reports.
It was also discovered that 75 per cent of respondents said they would be checking their work emails every day over the Christmas break.
The study found that younger people are more likely to check their BlackBerries and it is thought this could be due to an increasing reliance on email as a form of communication and the need to be constantly contactable.
A poll conducted by Monster recently discovered that many employees would rather receive a cash bonus from their companies than have a work Christmas party over the festive season, Onrec.com writes.
