Brits only have the energy to work 'five hour days'
Workers in the Britain only have enough energy to work for five hours of the day, new research has suggested.

According to a study by high street chemist Boots, the average employee looses 151 minutes a day through tiredness.

In fact, if working nine until five, Brits only fully wake up 45 minutes in to the day.

On average, employees will then take a 32-minute lunch break before falling into a lull around 2pm.

This slump can last one hour and 14 minutes; meaning employees are only productive for five hours of the working day.

Boots pharmacist Angela Chalmers stated that diet and lifestyle changes can help reinvigorate Brits.

"Our modern day lifestyle often means we can find it tough to stay alert during the nine to five and we have become a nation of slumpers as a result," she said.

"It's hard to maintain energy levels when you're stressed out at the office."

ClickAJob chief executive Yngve Traberg maintains that attitude is a factor too.

"You cannot expect people to perform if their heart is not in what they do," he says.

"Look around you on the train going to work, the people who hate their jobs are already looking stressed and miserable. That's a no-win situation," he points out.

"Both employees and employers owe it to themselves to find out where their motivation is and how to use it. Fix the attitude and very often you fix energy problems too."
