Two senior executives at British Airways (BA) are leaving the firm after the airline's disastrous move to Terminal 5.

In a statement, BA said: "Gareth Kirkwood, director of operations, and David Noyes, director of customer services, will be leaving the company.

"The airline is looking to appoint a chief operations officer to combine both roles.

"The departures follow the airline's move to Terminal 5."

BA's move to Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow airport was plagued with problems after it first opened for business on March 27th.

A baggage handling failure and staff confusion led to hundreds of flight cancellations and thousands of lost bags.

And snow on the runway caused yet more cancellations when BA finally thought they could run a normal service.

The airline has now delayed the move of its long-haul flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 until the problems can be solved.

The "teething troubles" have so far cost the company £16 million and sent BA's share price tumbling.
