New research has shown that more managers left the UK last year than came in from abroad.
Recruitment website Experteer's used research from 13,269 executives to discover that over the last year, the UK had an eight per cent outflow of employees in executive roles.
Britain's figures still came behind those of Germany, France and the region of central and eastern Europe, however, which saw an outflow of 18 per cent.
The study additionally found that middle managers are paid the most in the UK and Italy.
Torsten Muth, Experteer's UK managing director, said: "We have seen a significant increase in interest for overseas job placements.
"Talent is now far more mobile and we see increasing numbers of footloose, highly talented individuals willing to relocate across Europe."
As the economic downturn prompts businesses to reduce costs, a Monster survey recently revealed a significant drop in the amount of IT vacancies advertised over the last year.
