Bosses will be helping the sector skills council for IT and telecoms, e-skills, to set national IT standards.
The body has invited employers to discuss their opinions on technology and IT in the workplace to ensure the organisation meets business needs when it updates the National Standards.
Two areas will be looked at during the discussions, those being the needs of IT professionals and the demands of IT users.
The hope of the body is that consistency is reached nationally on the training, development and assessment of IT skills, so that an employer can look at a CV and immediately understand the level of competency an individual has with computers.
Furthermore, employees should be able to gain the right amount of IT training for the level of work they are at, which will be helped along by a the setting of an efficient national standardisation.
Recently, a survey by Samsung Electronics discovered that employees want better access to IT services, enabling them to complete their work competently.
