Staff are time wasting in the office instead of working, which has led bosses to deal with the offending employees, a new survey has found.
According to Employment Today, 76 per cent of bosses must deal with employees that send inappropriate emails, while a further 68 per cent must take action against those that open them, Personnel Today reports.
The survey, which looked at responses from human resources staff in the subject of internet and email policy, also found that some staff will post damaging comments in a blog.
Furthermore, mischievous workers will abuse company memory cards, although this is less of a problem as only six per cent of respondents cited this as a problem.
All the bosses questioned have banned pornographic sites and 88 per cent have restricted gambling web pages.
The study also finds that workers have been denied access to game sites, social networking sites and non-company emails by employers.
Earlier this week, a study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development found staff who abuse drink and drugs waste productivity time in the workplace.
