DIY retailer B&Q is to create 2,000 jobs in the UK over the next year as it plans to open seven new stores.
The firm spoke to Personnel Today and revealed that it is also to invest £10 million into incentives and training for its staff.
It was also claimed that B&Q has experienced a ten per cent rise in the number of jobseekers applying for work via its website, with more than 10,000 applications being received every day.
Liz Bell, human resources director at the company, stated: "The main driver for us doing this is investing in our people, but we also hope these initiatives will drive excellence in our stores."
She also believes that investment in people is especially important when morale is low.
Last week, telecoms firm Magdalene announced that it has 50 new job opportunities in Northern Ireland at its development centre in South Belfast.
