Accounts should choose 'suitable long-term position'

Accountants should look towards the long-term remuneration a position offers, rather than be lured in by attractive short-term benefits packages, an expert has said.
Recruitment specialist Max Williamson has commented that newly-qualified professionals such as accountants should look to a position that is suitable for their long-term needs, instead of choosing an organisation that promises exotic locations.
Mr Williamson spoke after it was revealed many accountants are returning to the market after 12 months with an organisation.
He stated that the reasons for this were that candidates were not considering all the aspects of the job, or had chosen to apply for unsuitable positions.
"Newly-qualified accountants looking to leave practice need to look beyond the pay and perks to avoid an unsuitable job or ending up in a career rut," Mr Williamson, from careersinaudit.com, said.
In other news, the founder and president of the Sleeter group, Doug Sleeter, commented in CPA Technology Advisor that software as a service could transform the accountancy sector.
