118trades to recruit "hundreds" of call centre staff
03-08-2006
Internet business 118trades, part of the 118 Group, is looking at opening a new call centre in an unemployment blackspot.
The group, which is one of the fastest growing companies in the UK, is looking to recruit hundreds if not thousands of new staff in 2007 and feels that opening in an area of high unemployment would help it to recruit record numbers of new workers.
A new call centre will be opening in Chelmsford in the third quarter of 2006, providing vacancies for around 400 new employees.
"We need to grow our team rapidly throughout 2007 and it seems to us that this is a win-win deal," said the company's founder and CEO, Daniel Corby.
"The business wins as we can recruit a larger number of people from a skilled workforce, which finds it hard to find suitable work and the local economy wins on the back of a large investment into an area which may well be deprived."
The company has asked local councils that have an interest in 118trades opening a new call centre in their area to contact them with any details and incentives for the group.
