'Cowardly employees' using work emails to send abuse
24-12-2008
Many employees are continuing to use work emails as a way of telling fellow workers things they would not dare say face-to-face, it has been claimed.
According to Web-User Magazine, this is a problem that will now need to be tolerated as it is unlikely to stop.
Ben Camm-Jones, news editor at the magazine, believes that people are more likely to say something they regret in a text or email because they lack courage.
Similarly, "alcohol can be a factor, as can a general lack of common sense, but most people will only learn the hard way, if at all", he added.
He said is "a phenomenon we're going to just have to learn to put up with".
Research from Mitel recently found that telephone calls are rated as the most important communication tool in an office, followed by email and face-to-face meetings.
