A collection of nasties
"Chocolate cake" though, can actually satisfy a variety of tripwires - as long as you avoid coming across as smart-arse. If you think of the variations beforehand, you should be able to stay out of trouble before you ever get into it. Here are a few examples, all originally intended to trap you into demeaning yourself:
Question: What is your biggest weakness?
Answer:CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: Can you tell me what things really bother you?
Answer:The sugar rush you get from CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: What is the worst thing you've heard about our company?
Answer:You don't maintain the birthday office tradition of CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: What’s been your biggest failure?
Answer:I am totally unable to resist CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: What is the main reason we should NOT hire you?
Answer:You've heard of my weakness for CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: should we choose you over one of the other candidates?
(If being asked to brag in your interview bothers you, here's a good alternative answer.)
Answer:I am less of a glutton when it comes to CHOCOLATE CAKE!
Question: Tell me about your old boss’s weaknesses.
Answer:CHOCOLATE CAKE, like me!
Question: What question didn’t I ask you that you expected?
Answer:The CHOCOLATE CAKE question.
Question: What’s the question you’d least like to ask me?
Answer:Whether CHOCOLATE CAKE is banned on staff birthdays.
Question: What kind of decisions do you find most difficult to make?
Answer:CHOCOLATE CAKE, or banoffee?
Question: How would you react if I told you your interview so far was terrible?
Answer:Say nothing, but pig out on CHOCOLATE CAKE afterwards.
There are, of course, a few exceptions to the CHOCOLATE CAKE rule.
Question: Who is your role model?
(Answer this one literally with an eye-candy hero or heroine from the super-real of Hollywood)
Answer:Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Keanu Reeves or whoever feels appropriate. Quote the movie too, to get the context.
Question: Have you already done the best work you are capable of?
Answer:This answer is always NO - because you're always developing your skills and the best is yet to come.
