Spell it out in CAPS
Four issues are at stake in an interview: Capacities, Attitude, Personality and Skills. Luckily two of them you can prove beforehand - with your CV, or in the items you include with it.
You've probably read all the tips on how to behave in interviews. The body language, minding your Ps and Qs, asking the right questions. All of them are significant, but not the only magic to win you the job. The obviously right person with the obviously right talent can knock all of them sideways. So what does it take to become obvious?
CAPACITIES
Capacities, for example, are fairly easy - if the job calls for driving, do you have a licence? If the job is in a warehouse, are you able-bodied enough to lift 40 lbs without back-strain?
SKILLS
Skills can also be verified beforehand. Ideally, your previous employer is favourable about them in your references. More significantly ClickATest assessments can verify your work-related experience - independent, impartial and extremely accurate.
That leaves the two human elements - Attitude and Personality. Unprovable maybe - unless your interviewer requests a psychometric test - but certainly something you can demonstrate.
ATTITUDE
Of the two, Attitude is cited by a majority of employers as the most important. It's not hard to see why. With the right Attitude, a highly motivated employee can always be trained. But with all the Skills in the world, an employee who is reluctant to work is unlikely to turn into a star performer.
How to demonstrate Attitude and Personality? It's your portrait photograph all over again - your personal word picture of a candidate who is determined, perceptive, intelligent, proud. You may of course choose other qualities - these are just to start you thinking.
